Snowed at Peaks of Rohtang and Baralacha

November 06, 2022 – The weather has changed in the tribal districts of Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. The weather changed on Saturday afternoon, and snowflakes fell in the high hills, including Baralacha on the Manali-Leh highway along the Rohtang Pass. The Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted snowfall in district Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti’s higher reaches until November 8. As a result, Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti police have issued an advisory and asked people to avoid traveling towards Rohtang Pass, Baralacha, Kunjam Pass, and Atal Tunnel Rohtang.

Lahaul-Spiti Police said the weather would likely remain rough in the valley for the next two to three days. There may be snowfall in the high-altitude areas. Therefore, the police have instructed the locals and tourists of Lahaul to avoid unnecessary travel in bad weather. The police have also appealed to all hotel and homestay owners to make their guests aware of this.

Rain Predicted in Many Areas

Rain is expected in many areas of the state on Sunday and Monday. However, the weather is forecast to remain deficient in the state till November 9. On Saturday, the weather remained clear in most areas of the state, including the capital Shimla. Una recorded a maximum temperature of 28.7, Bilaspur 28.0, Hamirpur 26.7, Kangra 25.1, Dharamsala 24.7, Shimla 21.8, Manali 18.0, Kalpa 16.7 and Keylong 11.6 degrees Celsius. Meteorological Center Shimla has also expressed the possibility of snowfall on Sunday and Monday in some areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti in the high mountainous regions of the state.
