Sepcial Cources Conduted for Tourist Guide in Uttarakhand

November 16, 2022 – Employment for youth in the field of tourism, The tourism department has given training to 30-30 children from three districts. Now they can provide tourist guide services to the tourists visiting the state. Destination Tourist Guide Course is conducted by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with Garhwal University.

In the first phase of the training program, 30 youth from Tehri, Pauri, and Dehradun districts learned the finer points of the guide profession. Now they will provide Uttarakhand darshan to tourists from all over the world. Theoretical and practical training was given to the participants in the course.

Based on the syllabus prepared by Garhwal University, these participants were taught about Uttarakhand’s geographical, political, historical, cultural, folk songs, folk instruments, lifestyle, food, spoken language, fairs, and medicinal by experienced subject experts. The students were also taught about the great personalities, including plants, the Ganges, folk festivals, traditions, beliefs, and related facts were given during this couse.

Special Courses Started

Along with this, the participants in the training program also learned about the musical instruments of Uttarakhand and the famous folk artists associated with them.

Poonam Chand, Additional Director of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) said that the department had started this course to make youth self-employment. He informed me that INTACH is conducting this course at Kausani in the Bageshwar district.
