November 16, 2022 – Strategically crucial Granphu-Kaja-Samdo road adjacent to the China border is closed till further orders due to snowfall in the area. The administration issued orders to close this route so that no tourist or other vehicle could go towards this route. Even after clear weather on Tuesday, 146 roads and 143 power transformers are closed. However, Jalori Pass and Manali-Leh road are now open for vehicles till Keylong.
Daily life has been affected due to blackouts in Chamba’s Pangi and Kullu’s Kharahal Valley. However, the meteorological Center Shimla has predicted clear weather for the next two days (Wednesday and Thursday). The weather will remain mixed on November 18, but on November 19, there are chances of rain and snowfall in some areas.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority Lahaul-Spiti, Sumit Khimta, said that Granphu-Kaja-Samdo National Highway-505 from Losar to Granphu, including Chandratal lake is closed for all vehicular movement till further orders. Action will be taken against those who disobey the orders under disaster management rules.
