Two Tourist Drown at Neem Beach in Rishikesh

October 29, 2022 – After completing their rafting trip, three tourists from Delhi, who were walking along the banks of the Neem beach, fell into the Ganges after sinking of the sand. One of the tourists was saved by a local rafting guide. But two tourists went missing in the waves of the Ganges. Later, SDRF launched a search operation after receiving information from the local police.

According to information received from the police, a group of four tourists working in private companies in Delhi and Bangalore came for rafting in the Munikireti police station area on Friday. The group consisted of three youths and one girl. The four stayed in a hotel in Tapovan. After completing their rafting trip on Saturday, the four people reached Neem Beach. After this, they walked around and took some selfies at Neem Beach.

While walking and taking selfies, three reached close to the bank of the Ganges and suddenly started drowning in the sand. All three were swept away by the strong current of the Ganges. Hearing the noise, local rafting guides tried to get the three out of the Ganges. But he only managed to save one. Two of them were lost in the waves of the Ganges. Police informed SDRF, Tapovan outpost in-charge Ashish Sharma also reached the spot.

SDRF Inspector Kavinder Sajwan said that Delhi’s Rohini Sector 15, Prashant Vihar, B. 158 resident Vansh Kaushal (26) son Anil Sharma and Kumar Gaurav (26) son Prabhat Kumar Jha, resident of Chhatarpur, Fatehpur Beri, house number 52 in Delhi were washed away in the Ganges. Mr. Sajwan said that a search operation was carried out from Neem Beach to Pashulok Barrage to search them. But the whereabouts of both of them could not be traced and told that the search operation would be conducted again tomorrow (Sunday).
