How to Draw Cho By Rei-Symbol of Reiki Power

So, have you ever wondered how to draw this symbol, Clockwise or counterclockwise?

The Importance of Symbols in the Practice of Reiki

A number of symbols are used in the practice of Reiki – the art of alternative healers that originated in Japan nearly 100 years ago. Five symbols are considered important, perhaps the most important is the Cho Ku Rei – The symbol of power. Like all symbols, practitioners who draw Cho Ku Rei are advised to focus on the practice symbolized.

It is not the symbol itself that carries the ability to transform a person, but the focus of meditation that emerges when one draws a symbol of power.

Drawing Cho Ku Rei

Some people, especially Reiki novices, wonder if the power symbol is drawn correctly with a spiral running clockwise or counterclockwise.

In fact, there is no right or wrong way to draw a Reiki power symbol known as Cho Ku Rei. It can be moved clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on the intentions and nature of the particular individual.

Cho Ku Rei is a symbol that aims to increase or develop energy. For most people, Cho Ku Rei’s clockwise painting will create an expansion sensation. Drawing the opposite of its opponent will have the opposite effect for most people – energy will feel reduced or there will be a diminished energy sensation. This is not a universal result, however, because, for some people, the counterclockwise direction will feel stronger than the clockwise circle.

Using Power Symbol

In practice, you can experiment with drawing symbols both ways and pay attention to how you feel. Imagine the symbol is a spring. When you pull it clockwise does it feel like the coil is expanding or pulling back? Then draw counterclockwise to see if you get the opposite sensation.

After you set which direction appears to create power and which direction decreases, you can use it accordingly. For example, you can use this “power enhancement” symbol drawing when you want to magnify or draw on some element or situation in your life. You can use a “power drop” drawing when you want to reduce or eliminate some conditions or objects.
