Grand Celebration of Mahasu Devta’s Festival in Jaunsar Bawar

September 20, 2023 – The tribal region of Jaunsar Bawar celebrated the festival of Mahasu Devta with great enthusiasm. After the deity’s bath, thousands of devotees witnessed the deity’s blessings. In the afternoon, the palanquin carrying Mahasu Maharaj Shahi was brought out of the temple in the village of Dasu in the Kalsi tehsil area. Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj and Chakrata MLA Preetam Singh also had the darshan of the deity. Approximately 20,000 devotees sought the blessings of Mahasu Devta during his darshan.

The revered deity of the tribal region, Chhatra Dhari Chalda Mahasu Maharaj, was brought out of the temple in Dasu village for a ceremonial bath at noon. The temple authorities conducted the deity’s bath at the Deva Srot. After about three hours, the deity and the idol of Mahasu Maharaj were placed in the temple. During this time, thousands of devotees had the darshan of the deity and offered prayers for the fulfillment of their wishes.

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj performed the darshan of Chhatra Dhari Chalda Mahasu Devta in the temple and presented a shawl to the deity. Regional MLA Preetam Singh also had the darshan of the deity with his family. The Human Upliftment Service Committee organized a bhandara (community meal) during this event, and prominent figures of the temple committee, including Chairman Shoorveer Singh Chauhan, Padam Singh Chauhan, Matbar Singh, Ranveer Singh, and others, were present.

In Gabela village, the palanquin of Mahasu Devta and Mahasu Maharaj in Kukursi was brought out of the temple at 9 AM for darshan. Simultaneously, in Bhanjara Panchra, the palanquin and the idol of Mahasu Devta and Chalda Devta were bathed in a ceremonial procession at 11 AM. After the bath, they were placed in the temple. During this time, people had the darshan of the deity and offered their prayers. Several members of the temple committee, including President Jawahar Singh, Pratap Singh, Kanti Rana, Tulsi Singh, Ajab Singh Bisht, R.S. Chauhan, Chaman Singh, and others, were present during the event.
