
<p>April 29, 2021 &#8211; A pair of rare species of Red Gaint Flying Squirrels has been spotted on camera at Garjiya village in Pithoragarh. Also known as Petaurista these Squirrels are vegetarian in Nature and only come out at night in search of food.</p>



<p>Normally, they are found in high-altitude area&#8217;s with an elevation of 1800 mtrs and above. This was the first time they were spotted in day time at an altitude of 880 mtrs.</p>



<p>This might indicates altitudinal variation and adaptation of this specie.</p>
