IRDAI alleged that insurers could not discriminate on the basis of identity and gender. They also cannot refuse to offer coverage or reject claims of a person is on life support.

The claim can be rejected only when a person is certified as being a vegetative state but then also insurers will bound to offer coverage or pay expenses till that date.  On the other hand, for teenagers, young girls and older women those who suffer from hormonal changes due to puberty and menopause, the excessive bleeding insurer will not exclude coverage or pay for treatment costs.
