October 28, 2022 – Under the guidance and direction of Deputy Commissioner Special Paul Mahajan, in coordination with JK Adventure Group and Xtreme Adventure Group, the second white water rafting festival started in Chenab river in Bhaderwah’s Shibnot area. It aims to promote rural adventure tourism in the district under Phase IV of Back to Village.
The festival’s first day witnessed huge enthusiasm and tremendous participation from the people of Doda. On the first day, more than a thousand people, especially the younger generation from across the district, participated in the festival, and around 200 took part in the rafting journey from Premnagar Shibnot to Karara. At the beginning of the program, Deputy Commissioner also enjoyed rafting along with SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom and other officials. SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar is supervising this entire festival.
The participants also enjoyed the ATV ride at the venue. Further, it has been informed that till the time the organizers get feedback from the visitors, the same activities will continue at the venue. Therefore, the entire rafting program was conducted under strict safety measures, and without any incident, the people, especially the district youth, enjoyed the whole event.
The participants urged the district administration to organize such programs shortly also. Apart from SDM Thathri in Shibnot, senior civil and police administration officers enjoyed the festivities throughout the day.
