Kunjapuri Temple
This trek is named after the famous Maa Kunjapuri Devi Temple, located on the top of the hill. Which is also the highest point and the final destination of this trek. Dedicated to Goddess Durga it is among one of the 52 Saktipeeth’s in India & Nepal.
The temple is located at an elevation of 1645 meters above sea level in the Tehri District of Uttarakhand state of India. To reach Kunjapuri Temple, You can choose to trek that starts from Tapovan in Rishikesh, or You can reach here by cab or using your own vehicle.
Trek Route & Timings
This is an early morning trek that starts around 5:00 AM from Tapovan, Rishikesh. This trek may take up to 8 hours to complete. The highest point will be Kunjapuri Temple, and This trek will end at tapovan in Rishikesh.
We will take two different routes while trekking uphill and downhill.

By Air: You can take a flight from Delhi to Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun, From Dehradun, you can hire a taxi or can use public transport to Tapovan in Rishikesh, Which is approximately 35 kilometers away.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is in Rishikesh itself. You easily hire a taxi or can take a Tuk-Tuk from Rishikesh railway station to Tapovan.
By Road: Tapovan in Rishikesh is well-connected via road.
You can opt for a trek from Tapovan to Kunjapuri Temple, or choose to reach Kunjapuri using your own vehicle or hiring a private cab till Hindolakhal Village, from this village you have to take 300 steps to reach Kunjapuri Temple.
If you are lucky enough then you will find some accommodation option in Hindolakhal village otherwise you have to stay at Rishikesh and travel from there. You can also choose to stay at our Camp in Rishikesh available at affordable prices.
If you are on some natural retreat, you definitely do not need to be with your phone. But don’t worry, Kunjapuri hill has a tower for the phone signal which is enough to call someone. Sometimes the signal gets weak and you may not be able to connect a call but don’t worry it will work again once you reach other end of the hill.
Being an offbeat trek, there is no availability of proper meals. However, you will find some stalls offering tea and biscuits. You have to carry your own packed food from Rishikesh.
It is advised to keep your personal first aid box. There is no medical shop available during Kunjapuri trek, Don’t forget to bring your medicines along if you have any kind of medical issue.
There is no ATM after Tapovan, So it is advised to carry some cash with you for tea, coffee, water .. etc.
