New Air Service Between Amritsar and Shimla Commences Today, Reducing Travel Time

November 16, 2023 – Starting today, November 16, a new air service between Amritsar and Shimla is set to make travel between these two major cities incredibly convenient. What used to be a 350-kilometer journey taking approximately seven hours by road will now be covered in just one hour. This announcement by Alliance Airlines is expected to greatly benefit travelers and businesses in both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Bookings for this service are now open on the official website of Alliance Airlines.

Alliance Air has decided to deploy ATR42 aircraft for this route. The flights will operate thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, taking off from Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar and landing at SLV (Shimla Airport Terminal). This flight is expected to significantly reduce travel time from seven hours to just one hour.

The flight from Amritsar Airport will depart at 9:35 AM and land at Shimla Airport at 10:35 AM, while the return flight from Shimla will take off at 8:10 AM, landing at Amritsar Airport at 9:10 AM.

Yogesh Kamra, the convener of the Amritsar Initiative (India), expressed that tourists from Punjab often travel to Shimla for leisure, while devotees from Shimla visit the sacred Sachkhand Shri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. The commencement of Alliance Air’s flight service to Shimla is expected to be advantageous for people in both states. On the other hand, Airport Director VK Seth confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth operation of this service.
