Manali-Leh Highway Closed Due to Snowfall

November 01, 2022 – Rohtang, Baralacha Pass, and other high peaks of Himachal Pradesh have received fresh snowfall. The Manali-Leh road has been closed due to fresh snowfall at Baralacha Pass. The movement of vehicles has also been banned from Darcha to Shinkula Pass.

The weather has decreased due to fresh snowfall in some areas of the Lahaul-Spiti district. The movement of all vehicles on the Manali-Leh road from Darcha to Sarchu and Darcha to Shinkula has been banned until further orders.

On the other hand, in Baralacha, the tourists played a lot in the snow. After the season, this road will be opened for vehicles by removing snow from the Border Roads Organization. After the season opens, the Border Roads Organization will clear the snow from the road.

The movement of vehicles will only be allowed only after getting approval from the BRO. Snowfall occurred in the Lahaul peaks along the Baralacha and Shinkula passes on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Even after Tuesday afternoon, snowfall continued in many upper areas of Lahaul. Therefore, District Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta has advised tourists to be cautious in the valley due to inclement weather.

On Tuesday, Una recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5, Bilaspur 29.0, Mandi 28.3, Solan 27.0, Hamirpur 26.9, Kangra 26.6, Dharamsala 26.0, Shimla 21.6, and Manali 15.5 degrees Celsius. On Monday night, the minimum temperature in Keylong was 2.5, Kalpa 3.2, Manali 5.8, Shimla 11.6, and Dharamsala 14.4 degrees Celsius.

The weather is forecast to remain transparent in the state till November 4. On November 5, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in many states. However, most areas of the state, including the capital Shimla received sunshine on Tuesday.
