Dhikala Zone To Open from Today, Jim Corbett National Park

November 15, 2022 – Ramnagar / Chorgaliya (Nainital). Good news for wildlife lovers. Dhikala Zone of Corbett National Park will open from Tuesday. Here tourists will be able to see herds of deer and tigers filling kolache. Along with this, the famous Nandhor Sanctuary for bird watching will also be opened to tourists.

Tourists’ gypsy and canter will be sent for a jungle safari at Dhikala zone of Corbett Park at 6 am. Due to the rains, the Dhikala zone of Corbett Park is closed for tourists from June 15 to November 14 every year. Besides Dhikala, the Bijrani tourism zone was also closed to tourists from June 30. Bijrani zone was opened on October 15. CTR director Dr. Dheeraj Pandey said that the Dhikala zone would be opened for tourists on Tuesday morning.

Here, tourists from other states, including Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and UP, see wildlife and birds in Nandhaur Sanctuary. Nature guide Prateek Pandey said that bird and wildlife lovers would be taken on a sanctuary tour.

Vatanwasa Zone Will Also Open From Today

Kotdwar. The Watanvasa Zone will also be opened for tourists on Tuesday by the Kalagarh Tiger Reserve (KTR) Forest Division Lansdowne. The Forest Department has completed all the preparations for this. Tourists booking online can enter through Vatanvasa, Durga Devi, and Dhangarhi gates. Tourists will be able to see other wildlife, including tigers and leopards, while Kanda and Lohachaud will have to wait.

KTR’s Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Harish Negi said that online booking is made for the bungalows of the Forest Department at Pakhro and Morghatti throughout the year, while due to the wrong path of the forest in the rainy season, with the start of the monsoon season, from June 15. The entrance gates of Vatanvasa, Durgadevi, and Dhangarhi are closed to tourists. After the rains end, these gates are re-opened for tourists from November 15 every year after repairing the roads.

He said that on Tuesday, after the ritualistic worship, the gate of Watanvasa zone was opened, and tourists would be allowed to enter. Tourists booking online will now be able to enjoy these tourism zones till June 15. They were told that the gates at Kanda and Lohachaur had not been opened yet due to excess water in the river drains of the area, and the road was terrible. The bungalows here have the facility for offline booking.
