
<p>October 11, 2022 – ;A tourist from Kolkata died while doing river rafting here at rishikesh. According to sources a raft carrying 8 tourists from Kolkata got flipped at Rollar Coaster Rapid, While 7 people were successfully rescued by the rafting guide but Shubhashish Varman (Resident of Kolkata), 62-year-old lost his life in this accident.</p>



<p>The group left for rafting from Shivpuri to Rishikesh around 10:30 am on Tuesday by the Red Chilli Company&#8217;s raft that at 11:15 am only a short distance away there raft overturned in the rapid named Roller Coaster, after which the guide of the raft safely rescued 7 out of 8 tourist. Shubhashish&#8217;s condition deteriorated till he was brought by Emergency Service 108 to Government Hospital Rishikesh for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead.</p>



<p>Shubhashish had come to visit Haridwar and Rishikesh with his entire family for rafting, there were a total of 16 people in this group, who were rafting through two rafts. Out of which the said accident happened with one of the tourists, after which there was a stir among the family members. On whose information, the police reached the dead body and started investigation. Arvind Bhardwaj, operator of the rafting company, said that the booking of these tourists was done through online. As soon as the information of the incident was received, Sports Adventure Officer of Tehri district Mr Khushal Singh Negi has also reached the spot, who says that the rafting was opened due to low water level, as a result of which recorded number of tourists were reaching Rishikesh but today This accident has happened in the morning, Mr Khushal Singh Negi assured that an appropriate action will be taken after investigating the matter.</p>
