May 04, 2021 – First of its kind case has been reported in India where Eight Lions in Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park Tests Positive for Covid-19 Virus.
A RT-PCR Test was performed after Lions were reported to have coronavirus symptoms like nasal discharge, coughing and loss of appetite.
Similar case was reported last year in the month of April where eight tigers were reported corona positive at Bronx Zoo in New York, After that there was no such case reported instead of a case in Hing Kong where Dogs and Cats were tested positive for the corona virus.
The Park has been closed for the public, It is possible that park staff might have infected the lions as 25 of the park staff was tested positive for the virus recently.
