
<p>November 06, 2023 – The transport department is set to take strict action against vehicles that transport rafts over Purnanand Ghat and Shatrughna Ghat, following complaints received on the Chief Minister&#8217;s Helpline. In response to the grievances raised by Kailash Gate resident Manoj Malasi, ARTO Tehri issued fines against 16 vehicles that had rafts loaded on their roofs. The department will take action against those who violate transportation regulations.</p>



<p>The practice of transporting rafts in this manner has caused inconvenience to local residents, leading to traffic jams on the highway, particularly during weekends. Responding to the complaint, Manoj Malasi suggested that rafts be transported differently to prevent traffic disruptions. The fines imposed by the transport department are merely for legal violations.</p>



<p>The transport department periodically takes action against vehicles carrying rafts on their roofs, imposing fines of up to two thousand rupees for such violations. Any vehicle found to be operating against the regulations will face consequences, as stated by Mohit Kothari, ARTO Rishikesh.</p>
